FAQ

I am not happy with my smile.

Studies show that a radiant, confident smile empowers us socially and in business relationships. It is one of our most important physical attributes. If your teeth are missing, broken, misshapen, unaligned or discoloured, ask your dentist about your cosmetic dentistry options. The growth of Cosmetic Dentistry in recent years makes a beautiful smile simple and affordable.

Can I replace my metal fillings?

In most cases yes. Metal filling are often replaced when they are loose or too old with "tooth coloured" ceramic ones. If your fillings are unsightly, ask your dentist about replacing them earlier.

Why are my teeth discoloured?

Most stains are caused by age, tobacco, coffee or tea but staining can also be caused by antibiotics or too much fluoride. Ask your dentist about your whitening options before starting any whitening program. Some over the counter products can damage delicate gums.

What is a root canal?

Root canal therapy (Endodontic Therapy) restores your tooth by removing damaged tissue in the pulp and replacing it with a substance that will help preserve the function of the tooth.

Adult Oral Care

Gum disease (Periodontal disease) is the most common cause of tooth loss for adults. An estimated 75% of adults have some form of periodontal disease. Early detection is key in reducing the risk of permanent damage to the teeth and gums. Consider an electric toothbrush. They have been proven to be excellent plaque removers and stimulate gums.

Gingivitis, the early stage of gum disease, is pain-less so it is important to have regular assessments by your dental health professional.
